Tehran is hosting the 28th Handmade Carpet Exhibition, showcasing a wide range of products from Iran’s carpet industry.
The exhibition, which opened on Sunday, is being held at Tehran’s International Fairgrounds. Hundreds of Iranian carpet weaving units are taking part in the event putting their latest products on display.
The 28th Iranian Handmade Carpet Exhibition opened with the presence of Reza Rahmani, Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade at Tehran International Exhibition Center.
More than 840 production and export companies of the handmade carpet industry are present at this exhibition, and precious collections of handmade carpets, Iran’s most prestigious merchandise, and unique works by Iranian weavers and artists are showcased here.
At this year’s exhibition, more than 100 carpet traders from European, American and Asian countries will be present to sign contracts with carpet companies and workshops to buy carpets.
The exhibition will be held over seven days.
According to official figures, carpet industry has a significant share in the country’s non-oil exports. Iranian handmade carpets are well-known worldwide for their delicate designs and good quality. The event is aimed at promoting handmade carpets in the world and paving the way for further exports carpets in global markets.
The annual event attracts about 100,000 visitors including traders and researchers from Iran and the world. Latest statistics show that handwoven carpets worth some 500 million dollars were exported in the last fiscal year.
The 28th edition of Iran carpet exhibition will wrap up on Saturday, August 31.
