Guide To Sustainability in The Textile Industry Has Been Updated

İTHİB published the Guide to Sustainability in the Textile Industry, which includes sustainability priorities specific to the textile industry and indicators to be followed. The Union updated the guide with the “EU sustainability-oriented regulations” section. The guide covers the textile industry’s yarn industry, fabric industry, knitting/weaving industry, dyeing/finishing industry, and garment sub-industry groups.

The Guide to Sustainability in the Textile Industry published by the Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters Association (İTHİB) and guiding the sustainability efforts of companies operating in the textile industry, was published in 2022.

The guide covers the textile industry’s yarn industry, fabric industry, knitting/weaving industry, dyeing/finishing industry, and garment sub-industry groups. Following the EU’s sustainability-oriented regulations, the union added a new section to the guide.

In the new section, the sustainability regulations made by the EU recently, particularly in the fields concerning the textile industry, were discussed, especially the EU Green Deal. The EU Green Deal, which is a set of strategies that reinforce Europe’s goal of reducing carbon emissions by 55 percent by 2030 and becoming the world’s first carbon-neutral continent by 2050, focuses on eliminating important climate problems such as global warming and sustainability of water resources. The Deal designed the Border Carbon Regulation to prevent carbon leakage and ensure that this process is adopted by commercial stakeholders.
