What does a textile really feel like and how can this subjective impression be translated into objective, comparable data? At TITAS 2026, taking place from October 6 to 8 in Taipei, textile professionals can experience a practical answer to this question at booth N3405.
Together with its local regional sales representative from GOIN International Co., Ltd. the German developer emtec will showcase the TSA Tactile Sensation Analyzer, demonstrating how textile haptic properties can be measured objectively and reproducibly.
Objective Textile Haptics with the TSA Tactile Sensation Analyzer
Hand feel and wearing comfort are important characteristics when developing and evaluating textile products. Yet these properties have traditionally been assessed through human touch, making them difficult to describe and compare consistently.
Different people may perceive the same fabric differently, while subjective descriptions such as “soft”, “smooth” or “comfortable” can be interpreted in different ways.
Objective measurement with the TSA can help turn these impressions into reliable data and establish a common basis for comparison in real time. Depending on the application, parameters such as surface softness, surface smoothness, flexibility, stretch and recovery as well as thermal haptics and thermal insulation can be determined.
Based on the measured parameters, a specific Hand Feel (HF) value can also be calculated. The latest TSA can be used with a variety of modules, for example with a camera that additionally captures a high-resolution image of the tested sample.

By license the picture and the measured data can be connected to the cloud-based Virtual Haptic Library for world wide comparability in real time. In combination with the Virtual Haptic Library, TSA measurement data can be stored, reviewed and communicated digitally, supporting more consistent evaluation across departments, suppliers and international markets.
GOIN Team to Host Live TSA Demonstrations at Booth N3405
The booth will be hosted by the GOIN team that is represented by Mr. Hank Kao, Mr. Arthas Hsiao and Mr. Nick Chang, who will be available to discuss the technology and its applications for the textile industry. The showcase will also contain several sample testing comparisons to demonstrate how different textile properties can be identified and quantified using the TSA.
For the textile industry, the combination of objective measurement and digital data opens up new possibilities for development and collaboration.
TITAS 2026 Celebrates Its 30th Edition
TITAS 2026 celebrates its 30th edition this year, just as emtec Electronic GmbH did last December with its own company.
Thirty years of innovation, technology and industry exchange: The anniversary connection makes this year’s TITAS a fitting occasion to showcase the latest developments in textile measurement technology.
The exhibition provides a platform for the international textile industry to explore innovative technologies and solutions, with this year’s event focusing on Sustainability, Functional Applications and Intelligent Manufacturing.
For visitors interested in objective textile haptic testing, booth N3405 will offer the opportunity to experience the TSA live, discuss individual applications with the regional team and have textile samples tested free of charge.
