In a strategic move to strengthen Egypt’s position as a regional apparel manufacturing and export hub, the Apparel Export Council of Egypt (AECE) recently hosted a high-level delegation from one of China’s leading textile and garment companies. The visit aimed to explore potential investments and production relocation opportunities in response to Egypt’s growing appeal as a competitive sourcing destination.
The delegation conducted a comprehensive tour of nine top-tier Egyptian apparel factories, where they were introduced to the local industry’s production capabilities, advanced technologies, and skilled workforce. The goal: to assess partnership potential, evaluate supply chain integration, and lay the groundwork for future export agreements and strategic collaborations.
“This initiative is part of AECE’s wider vision to attract foreign investment and create pathways for long-term cooperation,” said a representative from the Council. “Egypt is uniquely positioned—with its proximity to key global markets, robust trade agreements, and competitive production costs—to offer real value for international brands looking to diversify and de-risk their supply chains.”
The Chinese firm, whose name remains undisclosed due to ongoing discussions, is actively considering relocating part of its manufacturing operations to Egypt, citing lower logistics costs, favorable trade frameworks like QIZ and AfCFTA, and a proven industrial base among the deciding factors.
These field visits mark a significant step forward in AECE’s efforts to boost non-oil exports, support job creation, and reinforce Egypt’s role as a vital player in the global garment industry.
By proactively facilitating direct engagement between local manufacturers and international investors, AECE reaffirms its commitment to expanding Egypt’s export footprint and promoting sustainable industrial growth.
