Celebrating 40 Years of Pioneering Progress: CTMTC’s Impact on the Textile Machinery Industry

This October, “China Texmatech Co., Ltd. (CTMTC)” marks an important milestone: 40 years of advancing China’s textile machinery industry on the global stage. Since its founding in 1984, CTMTC has played a pivotal role in exporting Chinese textile technology, developing international partnerships, and strengthening China’s reputation in the global textile industry. With its continuous focus on quality, innovation, and customer trust, CTMTC has not only contributed to China’s economic growth but also left an indelible mark on the global textile market.

Building an Industry Legacy

CTMTC was born during a transformative period in China’s history. Established under China’s reform and opening-up policy, CTMTC began with the mission of exporting China’s textile machinery and importing advanced foreign technologies to modernize domestic production. Originally named “China Textile Machinery and Technology Import & Export Company,” it was directly overseen by the Ministry of Textile Industry. From its earliest days, CTMTC was tasked with a significant responsibility: to act as a bridge between China’s textile industry and the international market, fostering economic and technical collaboration.

With a clear direction, CTMTC made early strides in establishing itself on the global stage. By the late 1980s, the company had participated in several major projects, including the T.M.T. Project in Thailand and multiple cotton spinning factory projects in Bangladesh. These projects not only allowed CTMTC to showcase China’s manufacturing capabilities but also laid a strong foundation for future international contracts. By 1987, CTMTC’s exports exceeded $10 million, a testament to the company’s early success and solid reputation.

The company also spearheaded key technology import initiatives during this period, securing partnerships for advanced machinery such as Italian rapier looms, Japanese water-jet and air-jet looms, and German warp knitting machines. These technological imports helped modernize China’s textile industry and positioned CTMTC as a critical player in the country’s industrial transformation.

Expanding Global Presence and Business Horizons

With China’s economic reforms in the early 1990s, CTMTC was presented with new opportunities for growth. Recognizing the demand for more sophisticated textile machinery and equipment, CTMTC expanded beyond its core export business. The company set up representative offices across Asia and Europe, with locations in Pakistan, Germany, Thailand, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Syria. This expansion helped CTMTC strengthen customer relationships, facilitate project management, and increase the accessibility of its products.

In 1996, CTMTC secured one of the largest international textile projects undertaken by a Chinese company at the time: a 240,000-spindle cotton spinning project in Jableh, Syria, valued at $182.5 million. This contract, which involved intense international competition, demonstrated China’s growing competitiveness in textile machinery. The project enhanced CTMTC’s international influence and served as a significant milestone in China’s expansion into large-scale international projects.

By the late 1990s, CTMTC’s export achievements were noteworthy, including a project in Thailand involving 80,000 spindles of JINGWEI’s advanced spinning equipment. This project exemplified CTMTC’s ability to provide comprehensive solutions that met global standards and also laid the groundwork for future partnerships with JINGWEI Textile Machinery Co., Ltd.

Navigating Globalization and Economic Shifts

In 2001, China’s accession to the World Trade Organization marked a new era of openness and economic integration. CTMTC, now part of the China Hi-Tech Group Corporation (CHTC), leveraged this moment to reshape its strategy and increase its global reach. By 2004, the company restructured and adopted the name **China Texmatech Co., Ltd.**, formally signaling a commitment to international competitiveness and collaboration with industry leaders like JINGWEI.

The restructuring allowed CTMTC to streamline its operations, integrate CHTC’s resources, and solidify its role as a core enterprise within the group. By focusing on service localization and strengthening its overseas after-sales support, CTMTC created a unified, comprehensive export and service platform that enabled it to meet diverse international demands. This transition strengthened CTMTC’s position and prepared the company to navigate the growing complexity of global markets.

During this period, CTMTC also began working with China Export and Credit Insurance Corporation (Sinosure), an initiative that helped expand its international business through credit-backed exports. With Sinosure’s support, CTMTC successfully exported nearly 2 million cotton spinning spindles to the Indonesian DUNIATEX Group, expanding CTMTC’s influence and brand recognition in Asia. By leveraging its service expertise, CTMTC also facilitated the overseas expansion of prominent Chinese textile companies such as TEXHONG, BROS, HUAFU, DAIYIN, and Magnolia Flower, further establishing China’s global footprint.

Driving Innovation and Leading Sustainable Change

As CTMTC entered its fourth decade, the company continued to evolve, responding to the rapidly changing global landscape. Today, CTMTC leverages the “Internet + International Trade” model to modernize its operations and facilitate seamless international transactions. By investing in digital solutions, CTMTC has been able to enhance its customer experience and operational efficiency, laying the groundwork for sustained growth in the digital age.

CTMTC also increased its focus on sustainable development. Recognizing the importance of environmental responsibility in modern manufacturing, CTMTC works closely with other industry leaders to promote sustainable textile machinery and reduce the environmental impact of its products. Through partnerships and collaborations, the company strives to create a greener future for the textile industry and enhance the global image of Chinese-made textile machinery.

Under the motto “Sail Together, Win Together,” CTMTC has forged lasting partnerships with global clients, emphasizing mutual growth and shared success. This collaborative approach not only strengthens CTMTC’s market position but also drives positive change in the textile industry as a whole.

Looking to the Future

Reflecting on its 40-year journey, CTMTC has emerged as a trailblazer in China’s textile machinery industry. From its early days as a state-owned enterprise focused on international trade to its current status as a global leader, CTMTC has consistently adapted to industry changes, championed innovation, and fostered strong relationships with international clients. Through dedication, strategic foresight, and an unwavering commitment to quality, CTMTC has contributed to the advancement of China’s textile industry and gained the trust and loyalty of partners around the world.

As CTMTC looks to the future, it remains committed to driving sustainable growth, investing in transformative technology, and expanding its global footprint. With a legacy of excellence and a vision for continued innovation, CTMTC is poised to lead the next era of textile machinery and uphold its reputation as a trusted, forward-thinking industry leader.
