Shaw Contract Expands Porcelain Portfolio with Format + Fragmented Collection

Shaw Contract has introduced Format + Fragmented, a new porcelain floor and wall tile collection designed for commercial interiors. First unveiled at NeoCon 2026, the collection expands the company’s porcelain product portfolio while highlighting its focus on design innovation, sustainability, and high-performance materials.

The new collection combines two complementary porcelain tile designs that offer architects and designers greater flexibility for creating dynamic commercial spaces.

Two Tile Designs for Versatile Commercial Spaces

The collection consists of Format, a 12 x 24-inch concrete-inspired field tile featuring subtle sweeping brushstroke textures, and Fragmented, a 24 x 24-inch terrazzo-inspired tile with layered geometric patterns that create movement and visual contrast.

Format is available in 13 colorways, including neutral tones and bold accent colors, while Fragmented is offered in nine color options ranging from vibrant finishes to softer palettes.
Both products feature colorbody-glazed porcelain, rectified edges, and a 9 mm thickness, making them suitable for both floor and wall applications in interior and exterior commercial environments.

Inspired by Light and Perception

According to John Crews, Director of Design, Education, and Porcelain Studio at Shaw Contract, the collection draws inspiration from the visual afterimage experienced after looking into bright light.

The combination of concrete-inspired textures and layered geometric forms is intended to create rhythm, movement, and emotional balance, allowing designers to transition between calming and expressive interior spaces.

Performance Technology Enhances Safety

Both Format and Fragmented incorporate StrideGuard Matte Finish, Shaw Contract’s proprietary porcelain surface technology.

The finish provides slip resistance with ratings exceeding 0.60 DCOF, while maintaining durability for heavy-traffic commercial environments without compromising the collection’s visual appearance.

Supporting Sustainable Design

The Format + Fragmented collection also reflects Shaw Contract’s People Together, Planet Forever sustainability strategy, which focuses on creating healthier built environments while reducing environmental impact.

The company reports that it has achieved a more than 50% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon emissions since 2010 and continues to support circular economy initiatives and supplier diversity programs as part of its broader sustainability goals.

The launch reinforces Shaw Contract’s commitment to combining innovative design, durable performance, and responsible manufacturing for the commercial interiors market.
