  • Colombiatex de las Americas produced an economic impact for Medellin of USD$10,2 million corresponding to specialized tourism, reflected in accommodation, transportation, gastronomy, among others.

In a key moment for the fashion industry in the world, Colombiatex de las Americas closed its 37th edition with a record of 29,000 visitors, including 17,800 national and international buyers. For three consecutive days, 619 exhibitors showed the impact the fashion has on the global economy establishing strategic connections between commercial partners from over 20 different countries.

“We are proud to witness the response capacity of the Fashion System and its agility to face the global challenges and turn them into opportunities. This edition is unique, not only reflecting optimism from the entrepreneurs of the whole national value chain, but also their interest of connecting with the world and create new opportunities through a unique value offer standing out for being innovative, highly creative and with a centenary history”, said Sebastián Díez, CEO of Inexmoda.

The tradeshow reaffirmed the importance the productive chain has between the Latin-American countries, allowing the entrepreneurs and buyers to identify new expansion opportunities towards strategic markets. In more than 12 thousand m² in Plaza Mayor Medellin, entrepreneurs from Antioquia, Cundinamarca, Valle del Cauca, Santander and Norte de Santander, with representatives coming from Brazil, Italy, Turkey, USA, Peru and Ecuador presented the latest innovations in textiles, supplies, machinery and sustainable solutions, proving the capacity of the region to compete in the global market.

Colombiatex de las Americas welcomed 15,900 national buyers from Antioquia, Cundinamarca, Valle del Cauca, Santander and Norte de Santander, and 1,900 international buyers from countries like Ecuador, Venezuela, Peru, Mexico and USA, evidencing the relevance Colombia has within the global value chain and its capacity to summon the Fashion System. From the international buyers, 420 were part of ProColombia’s mission, facilitating negotiations with an export expectation of over 25 million dollars and in site businesses of over 4 million dollars.

Colombiatex de las Americas reconfirmed that Latin-American fashion is in constant evolution, with a clear focus on internationalization, services supply and sustainability. In this edition, the “Full Package” category stood out as one of the most relevant bets for the regional chain, allowing global commercial partners to find in Latin-America an offer mixing efficiency, quality, and logistics in the whole value chain.

Epicenter uniting the global Fashion System

Inexmoda announced at the tradeshow two new platforms to project Colombia as an epicenter for knowledge, innovation and technology for the industry. Colombia Fashion Summit will be the first international Summit to update entrepreneurs, taking place on October 2, 2025, with an approach on trends, business models, and international expansion. On the other hand, NEXTECH will be the first Latin-American tradeshow specialized in technology, machinery, and innovation for the fashion value chain, taking place on September 22-24, 2026.

Colombiatex de las Americas and these new platforms strengthen the industry’s competitivity and put Medellin on the spotlight of the international stage for specialized events regarding business and fashion. According to INVAMER, this edition of the tradeshow had an economic impact of USD$10,2 million, reflected in accommodation, transportation, gastronomy, among others.

“Besides the successful businesses that took place during Colombiatex de las Americas, the city keeps positioning itself as an epicenter for the textile, clothing and fashion industry of the continent, confirming our commitment with tourism, business, and new markets opening, producing in Medellin an economic dynamic impacting employment and generating opportunities for our people”, says María Fernanda Galeano Rojo, Secretary of Economic Development from Alcaldía de Medellín.

A call to “Regenerate”

Sustainability showed the industry’s commitment with conscious fashion with spaces like the “Sustainability Route”, highlighting more than 40 companies with circular processes, while the “Materials Library” exhibited supplies innovations focused on conscious fashion. Regarding this topic, José Luis Quintana, Spanish expert in Fashion Law, emphasized on the opportunity Colombia has with eco-design and stood out the solutions offered by the national companies at the tradeshow. The social impact was also evidenced generating more than 3,100 direct and indirect employments for the execution of the tradeshow.

Tradeshows as Colombiatex de las Americas consolidate Colombia and the region as key destinations for the global market, promoting different industries of the national economy. The tradeshow, opening the calendar for the Fashion System, boosts an industry projecting for 2025 a growth of 4%. Inexmoda, with its approach on internationalization, chaining, and competitivity, reaffirms its commitment with the entrepreneurs and the positioning of the Latin-American fashion in the global scenario.
