This year, The Aviary Studio has drawn inspiration from historical Japanese and French textiles, exploring traditional weaving techniques including ikat, Chiné-à-la-branche and Shibori. There is a constant cycle of learning and reworking, whilst maintaining the utmost respect for the craft. The result is fresh, inspired and considered fabric ideas. The collection also includes pattern, texture, colour stories, plaids, stripes, whites and beautiful neutrals. “We are working hard to be as kind to the planet as we can, by upcycling yarns, using plant-based dyes and utilising fibres such as nettle, seacell, pineapple, silk and banana,” states Sarah Podlesny, founder of The Aviary Studio.
