A BIT CLOSER TO THE METAVERSE/ Yarn: a connection between digital and real

NEW PROFESSIONALS and NEW SOLUTIONS

New fashion designers and fashion professionals are experimenting and merging new trends for a fashion to be discovered. In order for future generations to have the right knowledge, companies and students must collaborate for mutual growth.

Interested in innovation, MIC supports training projects in order to offer a knowledge that not only covers digital know-how of fashion design, but also manufacturing expertise, and a knowledge of the raw materials and processes that support Made in Italy.

In this perspective Manifattura Italiana Cucirini, through its yarns and knowledge, makes itself available to the world of schools and universities.

Elena A.’s three-year thesis project Next to the Metaverse used REFLECT-MIC, a reflective yarn, together with other peculiar materials, to express the concept of the union of the digital and the real.

A VIRTUAL UNIVERSE, PERCEIVED IN THE REAL, THAT DOES NOT END IN A DIGITAL WORLD

A knitted dress with a soft and asymmetrical line, slightly flared with American-style sleeves and crater neck, completely woven in reflective yarn. The stretch marks and long bangs, and mother-of-pearl buttons are details designed to convey the feeling of a tangible avatar, a fusion of the biological and digital body.

The outfit is completed by a jacket with a U-shaped flare on the back and a large organza hood, curled along the entire cut, whose pattern and fluid reflections emphasize the symbiosis between the virtual and the real.
