Interview with Mrs Amoli Shah, Managing Director, Prashant Group, India
Prashant group, established in 1975 is one of India’s leading textile machinery manufacturers. Group was started by Shri Prakashbhai Shah who himself is an electrical and mechanical engineer and true visionary. It was started just with 4 people in a small shed of 200 Sq. meter of area, and today the group has made its mark on the industry since last 4 decades and is continuously growing.
First of all please let us know about Prashant Group’s history and it’s success story in India textile machinery sector.

How do you evaluate the textile machinery manufacturer industry in India in general?Â
The present situation of the textile and apparel industry in India is volatile. There are many factors for that. Rising cotton yarn prices have hurt the Indian spinning industry big time.
The Russia-Ukraine war has also disrupted trade globally. High raw material costs and high shipping costs have put pressure on higher input costs which causes the issue of viability.
How do you predict 2023 for the textile and apparel industry and textile machinery market?
Textile machinery has a crucial role in deviating the global Textile and Apparel industry from labour-intensive production to a more industrialized sector. The constant rise in demand of textile machinery is due to growing demand for textiles. The apparel industry possess tremendous growth potential in coming future because of continuous changes in fashion trends.
With the advancement of industrialization and a modernized economy, major leading textile manufacturing countries are moving towards technology and innovation. Thus, one of the major trends in textile machinery industry is the increasing usage of automation and robotics that help the textile industry in simplifying complex textile processes and improve speed, quality, and cost of textile manufacturing.
How do you evaluate Indian government support for textile machinery industry? How government can help Indian textile manufacturers?
Our neighbouring countries are facing financial crisis and energy crisis also. So this may give some advantage to India in terms of export.
The tax structure GST (Goods and Service Tax), Tariff Barrier makes the garments expensive for trading across the world, therefore textile industry requires support from both the Central and State governments to become competitive in the Global market.
Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme has already helped to corporates and We are also hopeful for extension of TUF which will help small and mid-size players also.
Production and consumption of Indian textile machinery and spare parts in the last decade grow fast. What is the reasons for this?
The global demand of textile machinery and accessories are rising due to growing demand for the textile industry. India is strategically located from most of the major textile & apparel-producing countries and India has good potential to explore global opportunities & tap global market.
There are many textile machine manufacturers in the spinning, weaving and processing and finishing sector in India.. We are ONLY company in India who are manufacture complete weaving preparation textile machinery.
Let us know about your latest products, research and development, new investment and …
Prashant group has made substantial investments in the R&D to bring out the best technology. All major components of machines are manufactured through an ultra-modern machine shop which has a Laser cutting machine, Plasma cutting machine, CNC bending machine, Robotic welding machine, and special purpose milling and drilling machine; It owns shot blasting plant to improve finishing of components.
Loom printer developed by Prashant Group is working based on transfer printing of warp sheets. This is also sustainable technology. This is an innovative product which gives unique designs and doesn’t require any washing after printing.
All the products developed by Prashant group, have highest level of automation. Either it is a robotic sectional warping machine which replaces manual leasing with robots and increase productivity by almost 50%, or it is quick style change trolleys, which reduces loom idle time by 40%.
Sizing machines are developed with complete servo technology, which improves the loom efficiency of air jet looms drastically.
