Istanbul’s Ambitious Journey to Europe’s Largest Exhibition Venue

Construction has commenced on Europe’s largest exhibition site in Istanbul. The Istanbul Exhibition Center is poised to transform into Europe’s premier indoor exhibition venue, featuring brand-new halls.

Mr. Sekib Avdagic, the president of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, expressed, “Currently, we have the Istanbul Exhibition Center in the Yesilkoy district of Istanbul, boasting 11 halls. Our ambitious plan is to expand this facility from its current 96,000 square meters to a remarkable 225,000 square meters in accordance with the President’s vision. Upon project completion, Istanbul will proudly house the continent’s most extensive indoor exhibition space, cementing its status as one of the few cities with such a remarkable facility.

President Avdagic continued, “It’s not an overstatement to say that ‘Istanbul Exhibitions’ has evolved into a global meeting hub, thanks to external cyclical factors. With the upgraded infrastructure of the Istanbul Exhibition Center, we are now more committed than ever to establishing Istanbul as a regional exhibition and congress hub. The exhibition sector is one that constantly evolves, requiring swift integration of new technologies, display methods, and infrastructure services. Therefore, expanding Istanbul’s exhibition infrastructure to cater to sector demands is imperative. We firmly believe and envision Turkey ascending to a prominent position in the exhibition domain, and we are steadfast in our efforts.”

Turkey’s ambitious goal is to become a global epicenter for trade exhibitions across various industries, notably the textile sector, which promises numerous advantages, including bolstering trade, boosting exports, and fostering growth in the tourism sector.

With the completion of this Istanbul center on the horizon, the prospect of hosting the world’s largest textile exhibition, the ITMA textile machinery exhibition, in Istanbul in 2031 seems increasingly plausible.
