Latin American linkages will be one of the bets of Inexmoda and its Colombiatex of the Americas 2025 fair, to connect companies in the industry, boost business and highlight the competitive advantages of Colombia, as an articulator of the Fashion System in the region. The 37th edition of this fair will take place between January 28 and 30 at Plaza Mayor Medellín.
The fashion industry in Colombia is consolidating itself as a fundamental pillar of the national economy and a regional benchmark in innovation and sustainability. In 2024, the fashion market will exceed $34 billion, registering a growth of 5.2%, in addition to representing 2% of the national GDP and more than 10% of the industrial GDP. Despite the global economic challenges, the Fashion System is optimistic and finds in fairs such as Colombiatex de las Américas an opportunity to boost its growth during 2025 through the Latin American chain.
From January 28 to 30, 2025, Colombiatex de las Américas will connect more than 27,000 industry entrepreneurs with national and international buyers and will strengthen the productive chain on the continent, optimizing the region’s resources and capabilities to compete globally. In this process, the internationalization of Colombian brands, sustainability and updating become strategic axes to boost the industry in the first half of next year.
“ With this edition of Colombiatex de las Américas, we will strengthen the Latin American chain, with Colombia being the epicenter that connects the most representative actors in the industry, creating new business opportunities through its capabilities, quality and design, and inspiring the Fashion System, through its knowledge and prospective vision to create strategies to face the opportunities and challenges that we project for next year ,” says Sebastián Díez, CEO of Inexmoda.
The fair will open the business agenda and projection of the Fashion System for 2025, with an expectation of more than 500 exhibitors, more than 12 thousand national and international buyers from more than different parts of the world, among which Ecuador, Peru, the United States, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic stand out; for this edition, Italy will have a prominent participation, with a delegation of 23 companies, which reflects the interest of global fashion in Colombia. Once again, the fashion industry businesses will take over Medellín in a 27 thousand square meter exhibition space in Plaza Mayor, presenting the competitive advantages of the industry companies in all production processes, from design, manufacturing, confection, logistics and distribution.
Colombiatex de las Américas 2025 is more than a fair, it is a platform in which the Latin American Fashion System designs the future of the textile industry, promoting relationships, business, knowledge of the environment and collaboration as bases for sustainable growth through its different axes.
The fair is recognized as the business epicenter for the Americas that connects supply and demand in textiles, raw materials, machinery, supplies and integral value solutions. In this edition, the Complete Package Showroom reaffirms national leadership in all its productive phases, in addition to integrating design and sustainability throughout the value chain. “ This space that enhances the talent ‘made in Colombia’ and the impact of national clothing, responds to the strategy of strengthening brands and their internationalization ,” says the president of Inexmoda. In addition, more than 60 companies will participate with solutions that will highlight the quality, innovation and differentiated value of the Colombian industry.
The fair will also continue with spaces such as the ‘Entrepreneur’s Route’, highlighting the role of small businesses and startups as agents of change in the industry. According to the World Bank, micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) represent 90% of companies in the world, generate more than 70% of employment and 50% of the world’s GDP, which highlights the importance of this segment for inclusive growth in the fashion industry.
The fashion industry, more than ever, needs informed actors who drive the evolution towards sustainable, regenerative models and who promote Latin American linkages through their vision. In this sense, Colombiatex of the Americas will have in its ‘Knowledge Set’ more than 30 national and international experts who will explore global trends, sustainability and innovation to inspire the continent’s Fashion System. Mark Boloten, co-founder of FashionNet Anton Dell Consulting Corp; Alejandro Ventura, International Business Development Manager at Shutterstock and José Luis Quintana, Spanish politician and environmental expert are some of the speakers who will be in this space of the fair and who will express their vision on topics such as internationalization, new AI developments and sustainability.
The ‘Trends Forum’ will not only present the four design aesthetics of the season, but will also allow attendees to interact with samples of innovative and circular products and supplies.
The fashion industry is one of the most polluting in the world, responsible for 10% of global carbon emissions, according to the World Economic Forum. Faced with this reality, Colombiatex de las Américas reaffirms its purpose of continuing to promote an agenda to ‘regenerate’ the relationship between fashion and the environment.
Spaces such as the ‘Sustainability Route’ and the ‘Materials Library’ will highlight circular practices and environmental innovation as the new industry standards. Likewise, the ‘Textile Circular Path’ will demonstrate how different production processes can be optimized to minimize environmental impact and maximize the use of renewable resources.
After having more than 27,000 attendees, 17,000 national and international buyers, and 593 exhibitors from more than 20 countries in its 2024 edition, Inexmoda and its Colombiatex de las Américas fair will create new opportunities to update, energize and boost the Colombian and Latin American fashion industry in the first half of 2025.
