Researchers at University of Amir Kabir initiate effective method to recycle chemicals

Researchers from the Amir Kabir University of Technology developed a chemical absorbent kit that with solidification of the waste materials facilities and accelerates collecting them.

Farshad Barzandeh, the program’s executive director said on Monday, “Acids and basins need an aquatic environment to react. For this reason, in the event of an accidental spill, and leakage, the pouring and spraying of water for cleaning not only does not help solve the problem, but also exacerbates their reaction and causes further damage, especially on the metal , textile and cellulose surfaces.

He added that in order to provide a solution for the absorption of chemical fluids, one of the companies based at Amir Kabir University of Technology’s Growth Center, has been developing a chemical absorption kit called “Spill Kit”.

The member of the faculty at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering made the remark that “Spill Kit” is the trademark of a substance that contains, absorbs, collects and neutralizes chemical liquids, such as basins, acids, fuels, chemicals and foodstuffs, and is capable of collecting material easy and fast without the need to use water.

“The kit is able to make the liquid waste into solid and collectable waste,” he said.
