Beyhan Tekstil Targets South America as it Expands Global Reach

Interview with Mr. Murat Beyhan – Member of th board at Beyhan Tekstil

Beyhan Tekstil, a leading Turkish textile manufacturer specializing in woven fabrics, is expanding its global footprint with a strong focus on sustainability and meeting the evolving demands of the fashion industry.

Murat Beyhan, a member of the company’s board, highlighted the company’s commitment to sustainable practices, stating, “We are trying to be a sustainable company, and we have achieved certifications such as GRS, OCS, GOATs, RCS, and DCI. We also have the HIG index, which is increasingly important for major brands like Inditex and H&M.”

Beyhan Tekstil, based in Bursa, Turkey, produces a wide range of light woven fabrics, from 90 to 200 gsm, offering yarn dyed, plain dyed, and printed options. The company operates 50 looms and has a monthly production capacity of 300,000 meters. Their primary markets include Spain, England, Italy, the Netherlands, and Poland, where they supply high street brands, mass consumption, and bulk productions.

“We also cater to medium and high-range brands with smaller quantities of deep premium qualities,” Beyhan explained.

The company is actively exploring new markets, including South America, recognizing its potential for both domestic and North American production. “Colombia has a strong capacity for confectionery and CMTs (Cut, Make, Trim) for major brands,” Beyhan noted, adding, “There’s also a growing market for smaller brands producing for themselves.”

Beyhan Tekstil is incorporating sustainable practices throughout its operations, utilizing recycled fibers in cotton and polyester. They also collaborate with Birla and Lyocel for their viscose and Modal offerings, emphasizing the importance of transparency and certification in the supply chain.

“Sustainability is key to reaching the final customer and making a difference in their purchasing behaviour,” Beyhan said. “Brands are demanding these certifications, and we’re pushing to have them all.”

Beyhan also highlighted the influence of European fashion trends on global markets, particularly the growing interest in Korean and Japanese styles. “Europe is the head of fashion,” he observed, “and their influence extends to other markets.”

Looking ahead, Beyhan Tekstil is confident in its ability to navigate the evolving textile landscape. “Turkey is a strong market with a rich textile heritage,” Beyhan emphasized, referencing his family’s generations-long involvement in the industry. “We’re committed to staying in the market and contributing to its growth.”
