Dilo MicroPunch: Needling Technology for Lightweight Filters from Fine Fibre, High Degree of Separation at Low Pressure Drop

The Dilo MicroPunch needling technology has been developed to achieve high stitching densities at high production rates and low energy consumption. Applications of intensive needled products are foreseen in the field of wipes as well as in technical areas as filter media for example.

Fibre finesses may be as low as 0.9 dtex, stitching densities as high as approx. 900 stitches/cm2 associated with high production speeds ranging up to ca. 150 m/min.

MicroPunch material remains soft, yet combined with a good abrasion resistance. Possible other areas of application are light weight decoration materials for example as a thin surface material of a mouldable sandwich, interlinings and linings in clothing and shoe material.

Apart from the needling process which gives the basic physical strength, stiffness, thickness and wearing resistance additional finishing technologies may be applied like calendering, through-air or decatizing as well as printing.

Dilo MicroPunch is a highly advanced needling technology for lightweights to allow fibre savings and the reduction of production energy.

Further highlights of our presentation during Techtextil is the 3D-Lofter as a tool for additive manufacturing. It allocates defined fibre mass at areas of stress and strain concentrations in technical products (e. g. moulded car parts) in order to lower the overall fibre mass considerably. The 3D-Lofter technology can also be applied to the manufacturing of interior linings with paddings in specialty cloth and protection material.

In the field of Industry 4.0 and IOT Dilo offers apps and modules for smart operation and maintenance assistance of production lines.

A bus shuttle from Techtextil to the Dilo headquarters in Eberbach is available on April 25th, 2024 in order to visit demonstrations of MicroPunch, the 3D-Lofter, DILOUR IV and Hypertex. The Hypertex technology applies yarn and filament to reinforce nonwovens used as filter material or in garment.
