Providing Medical Equipment Inside From A to Z

Medical Equipment

Kohan Textile Journal report from the National Headquarters for Production Planning for medical equipment Hospital Clothing

Interview with Mr Shahriari, Member of the Iranian Textile and Garment Production and Export Union

It was in early March last year that the official news of the COVID 19 outbreak in Iran was announced by official government sources.

With the announcement of the first coronary heart disease patients in Qom, the country was on a difficult path, and until two weeks later, no one had taken this issue and the disease seriously. In these difficult days, the country’s officials gradually realized the importance of the story.

Meanwhile, a group of manufacturers in the field of textiles and clothing came to work and began to produce the medical equipment necessary products for doctors and nurses who were present in the front line.

For this purpose, we went to Mr Shahriari, the vice president of the Iranian Textile Production and Export Union, who had been serving the community from March 11 until just a few days ago, in order to have a conversation with him.

Medical Equipment interview

Mr Shahriari, please give a full explanation of what happened from the beginning.

In the second week of March, Mr Khorram, one of the donors of the Qom Health Charity, contacted Mr Jafari, a member of the union, and asked him for help in producing isolated hospital clothes. Mr Khorram was supposed to prepare the cloth and Mr Jafari, along with another member of the union, Mr Khadez, to prepare isolated clothes and medical equipment in two brands, Saleh Ben and Sark.

At the same time, the Ministry of Health, which was facing a severe shortage of this type of clothing and masks in hospitals and pharmacies, sought the help of Mr Sadeghi Niaraki, Deputy Minister of Industry, and this led to several meetings on the rapid production of hospital clothing and masks. The Director-General of Textile and Clothing of the Ministry of Silence, Ms Mehrabi et al. One hundred thousand hands will be given to the Ministries of Silence and Health.

On the other hand, the Nafs campaign, which was formed by members of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, contacted Mr Zakipour, the president of the union, and announced his need to produce isolated clothing.
This volume was more than the capacity of one or two clothing brands, so we immediately set up a joint headquarters for the production of special protective clothing for the medical equipment and medical staff of Corona at the site of Saleh Ben brand, which had good facilities for leading this great project.

The production of more than 80,000 isolated garments and nearly one million masks were targeted in one month. But the biggest problem in this way was the closure of all factories and garment factories due to corona and the end of the year.

Therefore, the Union of Textile and Clothing Production and Export Union and the Supreme Council of Iranian Clothing Brands immediately called for the support of dear nurses and physicians who were at the forefront of the fight against corona and whose lives were in danger due to lack of necessary equipment, including these isolated clothing. Done. Surprisingly, about twenty brands and garment factories announced their readiness, and with the call of their volunteer workers on March 14, the first shipment of cloth cut into three brands, Saleh Ben, Sark and Van Bay One, was given to them for sewing.

Where were the fabrics and raw materials needed?

All the raw materials needed to produce medical equipment are produced from zero in domestic factories. One of the interesting things that happened during these two months was that this potential was like a chain whose rings existed in different parts of the country but had no connection with each other, and Corona connected them and formed this chain to the point where Today, we claim to stop importing and seek export licenses.

Many poor quality masks were distributed throughout the city. don’ these issues create a pessimistic image about domestic production?

You see, at that time, everyone was able to do anything, and some people abused it. It was necessary at that time. But I’m sure that from now on, people themselves will not buy poor quality products when they have the right to choose.

The amount of help was high. We were also able to help the Nafs campaign to produce about 20,000 isolated clothes and medical equipment.
