From shoes to clothes! Allbirds eyeing expansion

From the world of sneakers to apparels! The American shoemaker Allbirds has expressed its plans of expanding its business by venturing into apparels.

And, it’s starting with socks.

Keeping in line with its commitment to sustainability, Allbirds will be making socks too from sustainable materials that include plants and recycled plastic botttles.

Besides, they are 100 per cent carbon neutral, which means carbon dioxide will not be released during production. Socks are going to be as sustainable as their shoes are!

“Apparel is entirely a new business and a whole new supply chain. Socks are just a start. We are starting as a team to really grow,” said Tim Brown, Co-Founder, Allbirds.

Allbirds will continue its focus on using quality materials as that has always been its hallmark. While it sources merino wool from New Zealand and tree fibres from South Africa, it imports sugarcane from Brazil. Tim added “As a company, we can show that a sustainably minded business can be built. There is a growing conversation around the environment and the need for businesses to find a better way to make stuff.”
