Under Armour clothing to reach space!

Under Armour, a US based sportswear brand, could be sending its clothing into space following the recent partnership with the Virgin Galactic in order to create space suits for passengers and pilots.

The collaboration with the world’s first commercial spaceline will also see Under Armour making uniforms for Virgin Galactic’s team of engineers, astronaut trainers and mission control operatives at its Spaceport America site in New Mexico.

Virgin Galactic, founded by entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson and owned by the Virgin Group and Mubadala Investment Group has named Under Armour as its exclusive technical spacewear partner in order to draw on its expertise in the technical apparel and footwear segment.

The collaboration will also see the USA retailer design programmes for astronaut physical preparation and recovery with a prior focus of enhancing mobility, strength, fitness, nutrition and sleep.

“Working with Sir Richard and Virgin Galactic is an opportunity of a lifetime, one that has the entire Under Armour team across the world excited. This is a great opportunity to test our innovation at the highest level and continue to push the limits of human performance.” – Kevin Plank, CEO, Under Armour

Furthermore, the full range of apparel and footwear will be revealed later this year, ahead of Sir Richard’s inaugural commercial flight.
