Teijin Frontier develops Solotex Nanofibre

Teijin Frontier, the Teijin Group’s fibres and products converting company, has developed Solotex Nanofibre, a polytrimethylene terephthalate (PTT) nanofibre with a diameter of 700 nanometre that combines excellent gripping power, cooling and wiping properties with stretchable comfort, highly suitable for high-performance gloves, sportswear and innerwear.

Solotex Nanofibre will be adopted in Footjoy’s golf gloves, which Acushnet Japan has started selling at golf shops throughout Japan.

Solotex Nanofibre offers high comfort thanks to soft, shape-retaining and stretchable Solotex. Moreover, since the surface area of nanofibre is tens of times greater than normal fibres, Solotex Nanofibre also has excellent gripping power, cooling and wiping property. In addition, it is highly conforming and slip resistant. Teijin Frontier is also promoting Solotex Nanofibre products for other applications, such as motorcycle gloves and medical gloves. Annual sales are expected to reach 60 million yen by the fiscal year in March 2021.

In addition, Teijin Frontier is pursuing the development of new nanofibre made of materials such as polypropylene and nylon to meet diverse consumer needs.
